Daktari started primarily as a recording project for Sydney, Australia based musicians Grant Mercer (guitar, vocals, keyboards, engineering), Allan Tanner (bass, vocals) and Chris Pedersen (drums). My Pet Goat is the first long-play attempt, fusing elements of reggae/dub and electronica with rock/pop song structures and foundations. (The title is taken from the children's book George W. Bush was reading to school children when he was informed of the events of 9/11) All three members have extensive experience in rock bands from the 80's and 90's and wanted to progress into areas of music not previously investigated fully. The next album, called Demons and Angels, is due out in early 2007 and continues in the vein of deep bass dub reggae influenced songs.
