To mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns in Jan 2009, Scots singer Ed Miller has recorded 16 of the over 300 songs written or collected by Scotland's national bard. Miller's voice is as rich as ever, and the songs are beautifully arranged and accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Rich Brotherton. Other great contributions are from Brian McNeill on fiddle and concertina, E.J.Jones on pipes and whistles, John Taylor on fiddle, Marty Muse on pedal steel guitar (there has to be a touch of Texas somewhere!) along with some gorgeous vocals from Karine Polwart. If you like traditional Scots songs well-sung and tastefully accompanied, this CD is a must.
