Product Notes

Raw, stripped down, blues-based hard rock consisting of powerful vocals and soulful harmonies backed by a hard-hitting rhythm section. Influences include Badlands, Audioslave and arena rock bands from the 70s and 80s. Seventrain performed together for the first time in the fall of 2012 in San Diego, California at a memorial show for the late Vincent John Crudo, (otherwise known as "Big Vinnie"), who was a respected local sound technician and bass player in the Southern California area. Guitarist Eric Horton, who had previous worldwide success with his former power metal band Cage, assembled some admired local musicians to play a handful of cover songs at the memorial show. Shortly after this performance, the guys sat down and decided to record an album of material that guitarist Eric Horton and vocalist Jon Campos had been working on. Eric recruited former 24-7 Spyz (Atlantic Records) drummer Joel Maitoza to produce and play drums on the recordings along with guitarist Jef Poremba (Coffi Baker...yes, Ginger Baker's son, 6ONE9), Greg Rupp on bass (My Middle Finger, 6ONE9) and singer/songwriter, Jon Campos. After a few months of fine tuning the songs, they started hammering out arrangements and vocal harmonies. By the end of 2012 they were ready to start recording the debut album at DML Studios with engineer Don Lithgow (Blink 182, New Found Glory) lovingly tracked in analog on 2" tape. As the main songwriter in Cage, Eric Horton's guitar techniques and songwriting ability can be heard on such albums as "Unveiled" which was released in 1998 on Omega Records and "Astrology" released on the WWIII label in 2002. Massacre Records re-distributed both albums in early 2003. Once Eric made the decision to leave Cage in order to pursue a solo career, he recorded and performed with many musicians around the Southern California area in various projects as well as under the band name Seventrain before finalizing the current lineup in 2012. Drummer/producer, Joel Maitoza has appeared on 22 albums and toured extensively throughout the US, Europe and Canada with the Heavy Metal Soul group 24-7 Spyz. Joel states, 'It's a blast to be playing with friends I've known for 20+ years and I think it shows in the energy of the music.' Seventrain draws from a variety of influences. When you listen to their music, you immediately identify with the honesty & integrity of many of the great 70's hard rock icons combined with the intensity and ability of today's top hard rock artists. Not only does Seventrain have the ability to take rock music to the extreme, it also has the depth to create very emotional songs that send a strong universal message. The bands music transcends the trends and fads that plague today's popular music. We feel if we truly love what we create, we hope you will too! Album Review Rating : 8.5/10 Website: Heavy Paradise 11/27/2013 Seventrain is a blues/hard rock band that performed for the first time in the fall of 2012 in San Diego, California at a memorial show for the late Vincent John Crudo, (otherwise known as "Big Vinnie"), who was a respected local sound technician and bass player in the Southern California area. The band consists of Eric Horton (Cage) on guitars, Jon Campos on lead vocals, Joel Maitoza (24-7 Spyz, Atlantic/Eastwest Records) on drums, Jef Poremba (Coffi Baker...yes, Ginger Baker's son, 6ONE9) on guitars and Greg Rupp on bass (My Middle Finger and 6ONE9). Eric Horton is known from his work with the band Cage, his high skilled abilities as a guitarist and his abilities to write good and well-crafted songs. So, what do we have to expect here from this new band is a really solid album that is influenced by bands such as Badlands, Stone Sour and Audioslave. After a couple of spins, I have to say that I enjoyed this album a lot! The Badlands influences are all over the album and Jon Campos is doin' an excellent job regarding of the vocals. The musicianship is top notch and you are going to hear some really killer hard rock stuff in an old-fashion way! Another highlight here is the guitar work; man, this guy can sure deliver a killer heavy riff and some brilliant and inspired solos!! 'Bleeding' is a huge heavy rocker, very Badlands-esque that include a monstrous riff and some powerful and in-your-face vocal lines! 'Trouble' rocks good, reminds me of Audioslave, while in 'How Does It Feel' we have the absolute highlight here!! This is a catchy and extremely melodic mid-tempo song with a great guitar work that made me push the repeat button several times! 'Never' has a nice groove in it and the melodic tune of 'Let It Out' is among my personal favorites from this album. All in all, this is a solid album all the way!! These guys achieved to mix the 80's hard rock sound along with a fresh and bit 'modern' approach and the final result is really great! Keep on rockin' guys!
