Globokar: Eisenberg Airs de Voyages Vers

"Eisenberg" for 16 musicians, composed by Globokar in 1990, is performed here by the University of Illinois New Music Ensemble. Much of Globokar's music is left to the performers - pitches, rhythms texts to be sung, chanted, etc. - but the composer prescribes a suitable framework so that each piece progresses along the lines he intended. The big orchestral piece "Labour" (ploughing) suggests "the unfolding of a vast chaos within which recognizable objects or landscapes can be glimpsed as though illuminated by lightning flashes."
